We want to wish you all a very Happy Christmas. We are celebrating Bill's 204th day in remission. We receive the FISH results and they did not show any trace of leukemia. We also received the Chimerism results and Bill's blood is 100% donor (Frank). This is indeed a miracle. We are overjoyed to be entering this festive season with such good news.
His next appointment in Houston is Feb.18th. At that time he will have another bone marrow biopsy. We are not clear yet as to whether they plan to do another MRI. Each negative result bring us closer to full cure. That will be a very happy day for all of us. This is certainly a very special Christmas.
Hope all of you have a lovely holiday and will get a nice rest away from the responsibilities of everyday life. We plan to relax and regroup after this past stressful year. Thank you again for all your support and prayers during the past year. We are so very grateful to you all.
Welcome
Thank you so much for visiting our blog. As you all know, Bill is loved by so many, in so many countries across the world - and we want to make sure you are up to date on his health. Day 183
It is with a very happy heart that I write to you this evening about Bill's test results.
We travelled to Houston on Sunday and returned last night. Bill had a full day of testing on Monday. His first appointment was at 6:15 a.m. to have his blood drawn. He then had a bone density test and afterwards a bone marrow biopsy. He met with Dr. Champlin at 11:00 a.m. and afterwards had a dental check up, to check for graft v. host disease. From there he went to have an M.R.I. of his brain with and without contrast. Lastly, he received Boniva, which is a bone strengthener that he gets periodically since he is a part if a study at M.D. Anderson for osteoporosis post transplant.
We received the results of his bone marrow biopsy after we returned last night. Thank God it was free of leukemia and Bill continues to be in full remission. The M.R.I. of his brain also revealed that here is no leukemia present .
Needless to say we are very happy with these results. We could not have asked for better. After the anxiety of the past week, it is a happy relief to know Bill is still in full remission and continues on his road to full recovery.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had a lovely visit to Santa with Kaitlyn on Friday. We then went to Chicago and had a wonderful evening with Frank's sister Ann and brother in law Pat, our nephew Patrick and wife Theresa and two beautiful girls. Next day we left for Houston .
Bill has to return to Houston in three months again. In the meantime he has to have his blood checked monthly here in Indiana University Hospital and receive the monthly dose of chemotherapy to his spine. This will continue for the first year post transplant.
We have had many visitors from Ireland to see Bill. My brother John, sister Kathy, niece Dorothy and nephew John all visited us during the past few weeks. This Friday our niece Karen arrives for a week. Bill's good friend Bas also came from Holland in the past few weeks to see him. Of course his Uncle John Deane also came to see him in Boston in September. Bill is a very lucky guy that has so many people that love him. Thank you all for the making the trip. We really appreciated it.
Thank you all again most sincerely for all your prayers and good wishes. Without your support and prayers this journey would have been a lot more difficult. We absorbed our strength from your prayers and positive energy. Thank you so very much. Please continue to pray for Bill. Each negative test result is a milestone. He needs a few more milestones to complete the journey of full recovery. Please continue to keep him in your daily prayers.
We will update you again when we get the results of the chimerism and FISH results. They are still pending. Blessings to you all for this holy season.
