Bill has improved SO much over the last few days! He looks like a different person today! He was up sitting in his chair from 10:30 - 5:30 today and enjoyed watching the Manchester United vs. Milan soccer game on tv! I think Real Madrid is playing tomorrow - so that is on the agenda for tomorrow. He was up walking around his room this morning and again around lunch time. His neck and legs are a little stiff from being in bed the last few days so he is eager to get up and stretch them out. He got 2 blood transfusions today - the 2nd one should be finishing around now. The infectious disease doctor also stopped by to let him know that the antibiotics he is on are working well. His fever has also come down to the normal range and seems to have stabilized.
Some great news is Bill is starting to get his appetite back again too - YEAH! Today he stuck to a lighter diet of Peach and Cherry yogurts, jello and his new favorite drink, yellow PowerAde. He also ate a Pumpkin Cream cheese muffin from the coffee shop at the hospital (yummy!). He does have an appetite, but the thought of eating hospital food makes him sick which is why he didn't order any today. He has put in an order for some home cooked food - I don't think I have even been so happy to cook food! So tonight, I am making lasagna and pizza per his request. Since his white blood cells are so low, the hospital will not allow any restaurant food in, so only home-cooked or hospital food - and hospital food is a NO GO for Bill! He has quite the selective palette these days :) My mom is making some more of his favorite dishes this weekend as well, so hopefully Bill will be back to eating normal and regular meals!! I have a feeling we will be breaking out the tub of Ben and Jerry's soon too!
Happy Pancake Tuesday!
