Still Hanging in there....Day 16 - Evening (2/21)

Hi All - Bill is having another pretty rough day....yesterday evening he started having a fever of 103 degrees. As he has no immune system right now, the doctor's immediately started him on 2 sets of antibiotics to prevent any type of infection. They also ran an x-ray of his chest just to ensure he did not have any infection starting but thankfully there are no signs of any chest infections. His fever has started to come down with the antibiotics, so they seem to be working. This fever is a normal reaction to the chemo and is actually a sign that his body is still fighting. Keep fighting Bill!

Unfortunately, he is just feeling pretty darn miserable - as Bill said himself, he feels like he was hit by a truck. I reminded him that he kind of has been hit by a truck with having chemo these last 10 days. He is still making the effort to get out of his bed and sit in his chair which is wonderful. He is also going for shorter walks around his room just to keep his legs moving. He still needs a lot of sleep though, like we all do when we have fevers. He isn't really eating too much except popsicle and yogurts. He did eat a lot of ho me cooking over the last few days before so hopefully that will carry him through for a few days! The nurses said that he will probably be feeling this way for around a week - they said that he is still doing amazing despite what he has been through. They are calling him Superman again and continue to be so impressed with his strength. Hopefully just a few more days and he will start to feel a little better!

He doesn't have much energy so isn't answering calls or checking email or checking his blog, but I am reading out some of the messages to him when he is awake and has energy to concentrate.

Please keep praying for Bill to have strength and patience through out this whole process! We all want that active, caring & funny Bill to come back to us ASAP!! He is so strong and is still fighting despite feeling bad. Keep up the fight Bill!!
