Hi All - Just sitting here with Bill watching some TV - we trying to find the Grammy's to watch right now. Bill's dinner should be arriving soon - Chicken Marsala and a side of macaroni and cheese. So far he has only tested the chef's basic culinary skills and they have done well with scrambled eggs, grilled cheese sandwich, omelet etc. He is a little more weary of how the Chicken Marsala might turn out which is why he got the side of mac and cheese - after all it is difficult to mess up mac and cheese! He is feeling good - getting annoyed of the beeping infusion machine - but that is just part of the deal. One of the medicine's he is getting (Bi Carb) is really bubbly - so air keeps getting into the IV line and makes the machine beep. I think all the nurses and doctor's out there probably know what I am talking about. Bill was up and about walking again today - so that is great - the more he walks around and is active, the better
Many people have asked me about when they can visit Bill and where they can send cards to etc... (You are all so sweet!). Unfortunately at this point, it is not suggested that Bill have any visitors. As I mentioned in a previous blog, the chemo is killing all of bills white blood cells which will make his immune system very weak - so the hospital has suggested to limit visitors so that no infections are brought into the room (for Bill's sake and the sake of the other patients here). Hopefully, in about a month, Bill will be in remission and at that point will be ready for some visits.
In terms of sending items to Bill, flowers and fresh fruit are not allowed into the Cancer center as they too could bring infection into the area. Any cards can either be sent to me and I will bring to him (Katherine Nagy, 6857 Washington Blvd. West, Indianapolis IN 46220) or directly to the hospital (IU Simon Cancer Center, ATTN: Bill Deane (Room B9), 535 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202).
Thanks again for all your support - you are all amazing and your support is critical to helping Bill fight this nasty disease!
